In Griffiths Valuation, 1864, Ballynagarrick Upper, Tullylish, Lurgan PLU, Thomas Hughes is leasing land from Alexander J R Stewart.  He has two parcels, one of 12 acres, 3 roods and 15 perches (value 13.0.0d) and one of 1 acre, 1 rood and 35 perches (value 1.15.0d) also buildings value 6.0.0d.  In the same area, you also find Jane Hughes, Joseph Hughes, Robert Hughes, William Hughes, Robert Hugues, Jame Hughes, Mary Hughes and George Hughes (all with less land).

In response to a letter to Canon Blacoe, Rector of Knocknamuckley Church, Mr Patterson sent a list of all births, burials and marriages in the name of Hughes which appear in the parish records since they began in 1838.  Included in the list of deaths are two records for Mary Hughes:
- Mary Hughes, Ballynagarrick, buried 29 June 1881 aged 65 (therefore born 1815 or 1816)
- Mary Jane Hughes, Ballynagarrick, buried 30 June 1895 aged 71 (therefore born 1823 or 1824).
